Clarification
Both end up in the same projects — but the tax treatment is different.
A voluntary contribution from your own funds. You can give quickly by bank transfer or PayPal, with no contract involved. Romanian taxpayers with salary income can also redirect up to 3.5% of their income tax through Form 230 — the amount reaches the foundation only if it is listed in ANAF’s Register of entities eligible for tax deductions; write to us and we will confirm our status.
The way a company supports a social cause out of its profit tax rather than extra funds of its own. In Romania, the sponsored amount is deducted from the profit tax due, up to the lower of 0.75% of turnover and 20% of the tax; anything not deducted carries forward for the next 7 years. Conditions: a sponsorship contract with the foundation, and the foundation listed in the Register of entities eligible for tax deductions on the contract date. Your accountant can confirm the exact figures.
